Lots of people are moving to Denver these days. The cost of living is lower than many cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Boston, and Chicago, and the weather is great year round! Denver experiences an average of 300 sunny days each year, making it one of the sunniest cities in the country. Because we have such great weather, we’re able to enjoy all the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer on a regular basis.

If you're thinking about moving to Denver, here are a few tips that will help make the transition a little easier.

1. Consider neighborhoods

Do you want an urban environment with great walkability, or do you prefer living in a suburban neighborhood with easy access to the mountains? Denver is made up of dozens of different neighborhoods, each with its own feel and attractions. The city can be overwhelming at first glance so it's important to find a neighborhood that feels like a good fit. However, don't overcomplicate the process. Denver's landscape is easy to navigate and there’s a saying here that everything you need is just a 15-minute drive away — usually less in our experience! Some of our favorite Denver neighborhoods include RiNo (River North Arts District), Cherry Creek, Wash Park, Uptown, South Broadway, University, Platt Park, LoHi (Lower Highlands), LoDo (Lower Downtown) and more. With rents rising in Denver, suburban neighborhoods could also be a great fit for you and most are only a 20-30 minute drive from downtown!

2. Meet people

Moving to Denver by yourself can be difficult if you don't know anyone. There are a lot of great events that help introduce you to the city. Denver is a city of transplants, so most people were in the same situation as you at one point and are happy to introduce you to like-minded people in the area. Our happy, laid-back environment and community makes it easy to network and make new friends. Consider using a site like meetup.com to find groups in Denver that fit your interests. There are all types of networking groups on the site including communities for young professionals, out-of-town adventurers, people who like live music, and of course, singles who are ready to mingle! You’ll find that many of the people you meet in Denver were once in your shoes and they’ll be happy to introduce you to their friend groups give you advice on how to settle into this amazing city.

3. Explore your new city

The best way to learn about any community is to take advantage of its resources. Denver has a rich history and there are so many things to do in the city and outside of the city. Do you like art? Head on over to the Denver Art Museum and check out some of the amazing exhibits it has on display. Are you a music connoisseur? There are so many cool music venues in Denver and a lot of great artists come through town on a regular basis (of course, one of our favorite venues is Red Rocks Amphitheater). Looking for a place to have a picnic on a Sunday afternoon? Denver has over 200 public parks to choose from - that gives you 4 years worth of Sunday picnics and you still might have some new options to choose from after that! Feeling a little more adventurous? You'll have unlimited opportunities to explore all of the mountains and trails Colorado has to offer. Be sure to stop by a store like REI to grab all of your mountain gear essentials!

4. Tap into locals' expertise

From bartenders and servers to local business owners and vendors, Denver is full of resources to help you find your way. As we mentioned earlier, the majority of Denver's population consists of transplants (or at least it seems like it), so most people are happy to pass along information that helped them get by when they were new to Denver. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you're trying out a new bar or restaurant. The employees will be happy to point you to the next spot in town. Reach out to influencers on social media who have in depth knowledge on everything Denver related. If they don't have the answers for you, they are usually happy to lead you in the right direction. Attend local networking and Q&A events in town. Again, many people at these events are in the same boat as you - so don't be shy, introduce yourself and ask some questions! With all these options available it's easy to say Denver doesn't feel like a big city. This is exactly what makes it so fun and exciting to live here.

“Tyler exceeded our expectations! I had only been to Denver once and was moving from Boston MA, so my boyfriend and I didn’t know the area at all. Tyler really took our thoughts into consideration to find us a location we would love. We also had extremely high expectations with a low budget, and Tyler was able to find us a place with every SINGLE amenity and feature we were looking for, including location. At times I thought I was being too picky, and couldn’t possibly find a place with everything we were asking for (and in our price range) but Tyler made it happen!! Being across the country, I also was not able to tour our apartment complex, so Tyler took the time to take high quality videos of our exact unit as well as all community features. He really made this move possible for us, and I am so glad we chose prime locating! Big shout out to Tyler” — Lexi P
